AUSTIN, Texas — Every week on KVUE, we feature a different child in the Texas foster care system, in hopes of helping them get adopted by a forever family.
Gabby is 15 and a sophomore in high school, where she takes online classes. She is a bubbly and hilarious girl who brings warm energy everywhere she goes.
Although she's had a hard couple of years, her positive attitude beams through. Gabby loves to accessorize and cares about how she shows up to the world.
"If you go dressing out in like, a bonnet and pajamas, I feel like you're not really representing your home. But I've always been like this," Gabby said. "I have to have a new outfit everywhere I go."
From her bows, to her jewelry, her nails, her clothes – she takes pride in it all and believes in carrying confidence.
"I'm that girl," Gabby said.
Gabby got her nails done by local technician, Taniel, at the Bleu Nail Café. Taniel gave Gabby a pedicure and helped her pick out the perfect shade of pink she was looking for.
Gabby is eager to work hard in school so she can go to college. She wants to eventually study law, but she also wants to work at a correctional facility and learn more about the justice system.
"I went through a lot of stuff. I always thought the police was bad, so I wanted to see the diversity on both ends," Gabby said.
She said she wants a family to come home to when she eventually goes to college.
"When I go to college, I can have a home to go to, when I come home from school and stuff. When I come home for visits and Christmas and all types of other stuff like that," Gabby said.

KVUE launched the Forever Families segment with Partnerships for Children (PFC) in June 2020 to highlight children in the Heart Gallery of Central Texas who need secure and permanent families. Every day, there are nearly 1,000 children waiting to get adopted in Central Texas, according to PFC.
Editor's note: The children who are in the Heart Gallery program and featured in KVUE's Forever Families segments are children who have had every effort made on their behalf to connect them with family or others in their community to provide options for permanent, adoptive homes. Through no fault of their own, that hasn’t happened yet, and so in partnership with the Department of Family and Protective Services, we collaborate to bring awareness to KVUE viewers about these children in the hopes of finding them permanency before they age out.
