AUSTIN, Texas — While Austin is certainly known for its live music, it also continues to grow as a hot spot for food truck culture.
On Saturday, newer food trucks were given a chance to set up shop at the Barton Creek Square Mall for the second annual ATX Food Truck Festival Brunch Fest Competition.
Shantrese Gillam, the owner of the Cajun Skillet food truck, said she and her husband packed up their recipes and moved to Austin from Louisiana because they saw an opportunity to thrive in the Capital City's food truck scene.

"My husband and I are from New Orleans, and we originally started the food truck because we just love Cajun foods and there's not a lot of places around here," Gillam said. "So, we wanted to make sure we brought New Orleans flavor on the road to make sure everybody can try what we have to offer ... this sounds like the food truck capital of the world."
One of the brunch offerings Cajun Skillet had Saturday was a "magnolia omelet," which is an omelet with jambalaya, gouda cheese and blackened shrimp on top.
Gillam said she and her husband recently won an award for their shrimp and grits, and they hope to keep the momentum going.
The competition was held from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Other trucks out at the mall on Saturday included Drip Drop IV Vitamin Bar, Jalisco's, Taco Sweets, KingsnQueens Jamaican Cuisine, Alicia's Tacoriendo, Island Fork and Pizza PieRos.
