DFW Latin market breaks Guinness World Record for largest fruit display

The store, located at 3035 N Buckner Blvd., was turned into an avocado wonderland!

DALLAS — Holy guacamole! (Kind of.)

A DFW Latin market just broke the Guinness World Record for the largest fruit display. El Rio Grande Latin Market, DFW's premier Latin culinary shopping experience, turned its grocery store on North Buckner Boulevard into an avocado wonderland.

The record was certified by a Guinness World Record judge on May 3, and to celebrate, the market held a community celebration from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on May 3 through May 5. The activities included mariachi bands, DJs, giveaways, a scholarship presentation, school performances, food tastings, unique avocado recipes, an avocado theme cake bake-off competition, cooking demonstrations and more.

Here is a look at the Texas-sized avocado display

Everything Grande in Texas isn't just about avocados—it's about bringing our community together. In addition to celebrating the avocado, we'll also be raising awareness about the importance of access to nutritious foods,” Gladys Marquez, Head of Marketing for El Rio Grande Latin Market said. We recognize that access to fresh, healthy food is a challenge for many people in our community. Throughout this campaign, we are doing more than breaking records—we're supporting our local economy and strengthening our community.”

El Rio Grande Latin Market has five locations in Dallas, one in Fort Worth, one in Grand Prairie, one in Garland and one in Mesquite. Learn more about El Rio Grande Latin Market here.
