Austin officers donate bikes to kids after mom falls victim to scam

On Wednesday, two Austin police officers responded to a call where a mother had fallen victim to a phone scam, costing her money that her family needed.

AUSTIN, Texas — Sometimes, we all need to hear a little good news.

On Wednesday, Officers Kazan and Adeli with the Austin Police Department responded to a call where a mother had fallen victim to a phone scam, costing her money that her family needed.

The officers took a detailed report and spent time helping to calm the frustrated, crying mother.

Then they decided something positive needed to happen to cheer up the family.

So, to the family's surprise, Ofcrs. Kazan and Adeli returned with new bikes for the kids!

The mom told the officers that her kids had never owned bikes before, so Ofcrs. Kazan and Adeli gave them some lessons to make sure they were confident on their new rides.
