Quilting for a cause: Round Rock students raising money for Australia animals

The students at the Round Rock campus started making quilts, neck warmers, pillows and coasters to sell at school.

ROUND ROCK, Texas — Local students are using their skills to raise money for animals that have been affected by the Australia wildfires.

Students in Deerpark Middle School's quilting club have a big heart for animals, and when they heard about the wildfires in Australia and its impact on wildlife, they decided to do something to help.

The students at the Round Rock campus started making quilts, neck warmers, pillows and coasters to sell at school. The money made from these homemade goods will benefit animals in Australia.

"'Cause even though we're a small quilting club in a state in the United States, we thought we could still make a difference, no matter where we are or how old we are," said student Annabelle Benson. "We just thought it would help out a lot."
