Austin Animal Center offering free rabies vaccines, microchips on Nov. 3

Austin Animal Center will be offering free rabies vaccines and microchips for dogs and cats.

AUSTIN — Does your furry friend need a rabies vaccine or a microchip? Austin Animal Center will be offer both for free on Nov. 3 at Richard Moya Park, 10001 Burleson Rd, from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

The event is open to all Travis County residents. Dogs must be on leashes, and cats and puppies must be in carriers.

Texas law requires all pets to be up to date on rabies vaccines, whereas microchips serve as a way to help keep your pet safe. The microchips are the size of a grain of rice, are implanted under the skin and when a lost pet is found, their microchip can be scanned to find their owner's contact information and get them back home safely.
