Foxtrot plans to reopen several locations, including in Austin

The news comes less than two months after the company closed all of its stores across the country.

AUSTIN, Texas — Less than two months after announcing its national closure, grocery store and café Foxtrot shared its plans to reopen some locations across the U.S.

The company posted a photo to Instagram on Wednesday with the caption, "A new Foxtrot with some old friends. Coming soon."

Back in April, the Chicago-based market filed for bankruptcy and abruptly closed all of its 33 locations, ranging from Austin to Washington, D.C.

"We explored many avenues to continue the business but found no viable options despite good faith and exhaustive efforts," the company posted to its website at the time of the closure.

Foxtrot opened its doors in Austin last year, welcoming customers to four different storefronts across the city.

Now, according to a report from the Austin Business Journal, company cofounder Mike LaVitola is leading the movement to reopen some of the original stores as early as this summer.

A Foxtrot representative said the updated stores should "maintain the same layout and merchandising, focusing on small and local makers."

It is still unclear whether all four Austin locations will open again, as the company has yet to provide additional details.
