AUSTIN, Texas — Central Texans have seen many businesses shutting down because of the COVID-19 pandemic. KVUE wants to help "Keep Austin Local" by highlighting small businesses that might need a little help.
On Friday, KVUE stopped by Almarah Mediterranean Cuisine, a family-owned restaurant in northwest Austin.
The restaurant opened at its current location in 2015 and the owners pride themselves on authentic Mediterranean cuisine including hummus, kebabs, shawarmas, falafel and more. The dishes are the family’s traditional entrees.
All meals come with a warm loaf of pita bread that is baked as people arrive so it’s steaming when it’s on the table.
The COVID-19 pandemic caused the restaurant to close its doors to indoor dining, but they continued doing take-out orders. The owner, Nasser Ibrahim, said it was a struggle, but their goal was to be able to continue to take care of their employees.
You can find Almarah Mediterranean Cuisine on Facebook, Instagram or online here. They are located at 12129 Ranch Road 620 N #450, Austin, TX, 78750.
