Keep Austin Local: Boggy Creek Farm

Find fresh produce and check out the beautiful views while supporting local.

AUSTIN, Texas — KVUE wants to help “Keep Austin Local” by highlighting the local businesses, events and people that make Austin special.

On Monday, KVUE stopped by Boggy Creek Farm, which is located in East Austin and owned by a mother-daughter duo.

Boggy Creek Farm has been in business for 30 years. The owner, Carol Ann Sayle, and her daughter run the farm, which features vegetables, chickens and flowers.

The farm stand is on the grounds of the farm, so customers can see exactly where the produce is grown, knowing it is fresh. Sayle said customers say their produce is overall excellent, but their standouts include arugula, green eggplants, salad mixes and tomatoes.

They want people to know that their farm is a regenerative farm. That means they care for the soil and do not till.

“Spent crops are composted where they grew, with the aid of landscape fabric, which provides darkness and moisture," Sayle said.

They also make their own compost with their chickens' manure and dry leaves.

Boggy Creek Farm is located at 3414 Lyons Road in Austin. In August, the farm stand is open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. In September, it will be open four days per week.
