AUSTIN, Texas — KVUE wants to help “Keep Austin Local” by highlighting local businesses, events and people that make Austin special.
On Monday, KVUE stopped by Helios Fused Glass Studio in North Austin. The studio has been around for 15 years but was recently bought by local artists and community members.
According to its website, Helios Fused Glass Studio was “born out of a passion for glass as an artist’s medium and a desire to share the enthusiasm and knowledge with others in the hope that it will inspire them to create.”
Helios has retail space and workspace for artists, but also provides learning opportunities. They have classes called “Fusing with Friends,” where people can schedule a two-hour lesson to learn how to fuse glass and create art.
They are also working with a local mosaic artist on a 72-square-foot mural that will be installed in August at the Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.
Some classes are taught by local artists, or internationally renowned glass artists. They welcome all skill levels to their studio.
You can find Helios Fused Glass Studio at 13581 Pond Springs Road in Austin, or online here.
