AUSTIN, Texas — KVUE wants to help “Keep Austin Local” by highlighting local businesses, events and people that make Austin special.
On Monday, KVUE stopped by NeWorlDeli, or New World Deli, a spot in Hyde Park that’s been around for 25 years.
NeWorlDeli is a true mom-and-pop business owned by husband and wife Greg and Sarah Bontempo. The Bontempos both went to the University of Texas and they decided to create a restaurant where their young children could come to work with them. Now their three daughters have grown, and the deli remains.
Greg Bontempo grew up working with his father, who was a “deli man.” He wanted to continue the tradition by creating a restaurant where locals could come enjoy good food and great conversation.
NeWorlDeli is a scratch deli, meaning everything is made fresh daily. It even roasts its own meat.
On the menu you can find a Reuben, French dip, turkey club, vegetarian options and homemade soup. It also offers catering for events.
NeWorlDeli has live music every day of the week, and has since it opened up. You can see the list of performers here.
You can find NeWorlDeli at 4101 Guadalupe St., or online here.
