Keep Austin Local: Picket Fences

Find great baby and kids clothing and items while supporting a local business.

AUSTIN, Texas — KVUE wants to help “Keep Austin Local” by highlighting the local businesses, events and people that make Austin special.

On Wednesday, KVUE stopped by Picket Fences, a shop that has been around since 1991.

Picket Fences carries items for babies and children including clothing, books, toys, shoes and accessories. They offer embroidery for customization, and a baby registry as well. The store carries up to size 8 for girls and size 6 for boys.

The owner, Kathryn Hall, was a part-time employee of Picket Fences while she studied at the University of Texas. She took over the store in 2001.

Hall said she has had several pregnant women come into the store and say they remember visiting Picket Fences with their moms when they were children.

You can find Picket Fences at 1003 34th St. in Austin or online here.
