AUSTIN, Texas — KVUE wants to help “Keep Austin Local” by highlighting the local businesses, events and people that make Austin special.
On Wednesday, KVUE stopped by Pink Flamingo Plant Company, a nursery in North Austin.
Co-owners Emmilee Price and Chase Howell both worked at a nursery together pre-pandemic and decided during quarantine they didn’t want to go back to business as usual. They chose to challenge themselves and start something new.
Pink Flamingo Plant Co. celebrates one year in business this week. The co-owners said the challenges of opening a shop during a pandemic was worth it because they’ve created a really cool space that people seem to enjoy.
To celebrate their anniversary, they are hosting a pop-up market Saturday, Oct. 23, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature local vendors selling goods. There will also be a raffle for attendees to enter.
Pink Flamingo Plant Co. tries to focus on having unusual plants. Hearing from customers that they’ve never seen some of their plants before brings the co-owners joy.
Outside of their plants for purchase they also have gift items available to buy, like stickers, local art and more. There’s also a coffee truck called Neptune Coffee that parks outside of the nursery.
The co-owners want people to know they just completely restocked their greenhouse and they focus on tropical houseplants, succulents and cacti.
If you stop by, be sure to say hello to their shop dog named Boo.
You can find Pink Flamingo Plant Co. at 7221 McNeil Drive in Austin, or online.
