Texas will be getting thousands of new jobs in 2010, thanks to HEB. More than 10 percent will be here in Central Texas.

The grocery chain already has a loyal following. A big part of it has to do with its prices.

While I would love to shop at whole foods, I just can't afford to do that. I think HEB has great produce and the prices are much more affordable on our family budget, said HEB shopper Rebecca O'Hara

The O'Hara family will have more options soon. In 2010, HEB will build 13 new stores and undergo 60 renovations which will add 5,000 new jobs in Texas.

In Central Texas, Dripping Springs will get a new HEB, and with it, 400 new jobs.

The renovation at the southeast Austin store is actually a whole new building. The new store will be 100,000 square feet and add an additional 100 jobs.

In Central Austin, the HEB on Burnet Road at Koenig is about to undergo a major expansion. It will grow by one third, taking over some 20,000 square feet of existing retail space. This roof will be raised, to match the height of the existing HEB. Forty new jobs will be added.

My mom and dad shopped here. My brothers and sister, uncles and cousins, we've all shopped here. So it's like, ahhh, progress. said Ed Lozano, shopper.

HEB will also lower prices on 5,000 of its most popular items.
