AUSTIN, Texas — How’s that spring cleaning going? The experts at Consumer Reports have one rule: Work smarter, not harder. Especially when it comes to dusting. Now, they’re revealing a few dirty secrets from their test labs so you can get the job done quickly and easily in your home.
Step aside feather duster. Consumer Reports says a microfiber cloth leaves those dusters; well, you get the idea.
Here’s the idea: Match the cloth to the job. Soft, fluffy cloths are absorbent and best for holding dust, which minimizes the potential to scratch surfaces. Don’t drench your cloth with a cleaning solution. It should be only slightly damp so you don’t leave any solution behind.
