Developer hopes to bring rentable housing project to Pflugerville

The development is now in the hands of the Pflugerville City Council.

PFLUGERVILLE, Texas — A new development could bring more than 300 homes to Pflugerville – but most of them wouldn't be for sale.

The "Cameron 96" project would be located north of Cameron Road next to the Carmel subdivision, according to the Austin Business Journal. The developer said it's designed for the "middle market," people who want to move out of apartments but aren't ready to buy a home.

The 63-acre development would include 85 traditional single-family homes and 300 homes for rent. The development would also include a park and trails, along with commercial space.

On Aug. 2, the developer, Urban Moment, received a recommendation for approval from the Pflugerville Planning and Zoning Commission to rezone the space, ABJ reported. Now, the Pflugerville City Council will hold a public hearing and vote on the rezoning.

There are some affordable housing developments in Austin. In February, KVUE reported that a multi-family development was breaking ground in southeast Austin along East Riverside Drive.
