2 new affordable housing developments approved for southeast Austin

The two new complexes are expected to be finished by late 2025.

AUSTIN, Texas — The City of Austin Housing Department has approved the construction and development of two new affordable housing complexes in southeast Austin.

The developments – named The Roz and The Sasha – were approved by the Housing Finance Corporation Board on Thursday, with the $12.3 million investment to build the complexes coming from the City's 2022 General Obligation Bonds.

“These two rental developments – The Roz and The Sasha – are milestones for permanent supportive housing serving low-income, vulnerable populations in Austin,” said Rosie Truelove, director of the City's Housing Department. “We are proud to leverage tools like LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credits) and bonds to benefit our community’s need for more affordable housing.”

The Roz will be located at 3432 Parker Lane, near Interstate 35 and Ben White Boulevard. It will feature 100 single-person units and will cost $5.5 million to construct.

The Sasha will be located just off Riverside Drive, and will feature 60 units – 30 suitable for permanent residence and 30 designed for transitional residence.

The complexes are expected to be completed in latter part of 2025.
