AUSTIN, Texas — With more businesses moving to Austin's popular South Congress Avenue, some smaller businesses are getting territorial.
Allens Boots, which describes itself as "an Austin tradition since 1977," has set up a pop-up store right next to one of its competitors, Austin-based Tecovas. And "Allens Boots Lite" features some sassy signs in its windows.
One sign reads that the pop-up offers "twice the boot [at] half the price of the other guys," with an arrow pointing toward Tecovas. Another states, "Allens Boots is the original and iconic Austin boot destination! No pretenders here!," adding that Allens is cleaning the shelves of its main location down the street.
Neither Allens nor Tecovas has made an official statement about the pop-up on their own social media accounts, but Tecovas did comment on a post about the showdown made by entertainment Instagram account, 365thingsaustin.
"We're happy to be a part of Austin's western culture, and appreciative of the guys that kicked it off on South Congress," Tecovas wrote. "Drinks on us if y'all want to swing by!"
