AUSTIN, Texas — When it comes to job hunting in a big city, Austin might be the best place to be across the nation. A recent report from The Wall Street Journal ranks Austin as the No. 1 best job market in the U.S.
The report was based on five attributes:
- job growth
- unemployment rate
- share of adults working or looking for work
- change in the size of the labor force
- change in average weekly wages
The cities were then scored by the highest average ranking among each of these categories using Moody's Analytics analysis of Labor Department data.
Other large metro areas rounding out the top 10 included:
- Nashville, Tennessee
- Raleigh, North Carolina
- Salt Lake City, Utah
- Jacksonville, Florida
- Atlanta, Georgia
- Denver, Colorado
- Kansas City, Missouri
- Boston, Massachusetts
- Tampa, Florida
Meanwhile, Elkhart, Indiana, was named the No. 1 best small city for the job market.
