ROUND ROCK, Texas — Baylor Scott & White Medical Center is expanding its footprint in Round Rock.
On Wednesday afternoon, a ground-breaking ceremony took place on a new multi-year construction project at the campus located off of University Boulevard.
This project will expand the labor and delivery department, add a neonatal intensive care unit and add more operating rooms and patient beds.
"Williamson County has grown by over 100,000 residents in the past five years the judge mentioned that a 100 people a day move to Williamson. We ourselves have seen over a 30% increase in our volume during that time period," said vice president of operations at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Round Rock, Drew Bennett.
Baylor Scott & White Medical Center has been in Williamson County since 2007.
According to the Baylor Scott & White Health website, the project is expected to be completed by 2026.
