AUSTIN, Texas — Capital Metro (CapMetro) is moving forward with plans to buy a new office facility in East Austin, right next to its current headquarters.
The 187,700-square-foot building is located at Fifth and Tillery streets and will cost CapMetro about $87 million.
CapMetro said the existing headquarters will continue to house employees and its training academy, but the new building will help it get workers out of leased spaces and accommodate future growth.
Solar panels and rainwater collection systems are already in place at the new building, and a community engagement space is planned. The existing tenant will stay in the building.
