CapMetro temporarily suspends rail services to start improvement project

Part of Braker Lane will also be closed from July 7 to July 12.

AUSTIN, Texas — Capital Metro (CapMetro) MetroRail riders will need to find other transportation for the next week and a half.

On Wednesday, July 5, CapMetro started an improvement project for the rail line. Services will be suspended until July 14.

Part of Braker Lane will also be closed from July 7 to July 12 so crews can work on McKalla Station, near Q2 Stadium. CapMetro said special event rail service will resume for the Austin FC game on July 15. 

On certain days, CapMetro said it offers alternative service from rail stations that can take travelers downtown: 

Detour: Route 392 Westbound – no stops missed

  • From Braker
  • Left on Kramer
  • Right on Metric
  • Right on Rutland
  • Right on Burnet to Regular Route
