AUSTIN, Texas — South Korean-based engineering company Hanyang has announced plans to build its US headquarters in Cedar Park.
On Thursday, the Cedar Park City Council approved an agreement to allow the company to bring their national headquarters to the city, creating 50 new jobs.
The announcement follows a trip representatives from Williamson County took to South Korea in September, which they say helped facilitate the deal.
"I also think the teamwork with the county, and the trips and the work that the county's put together and building relationships with South Korea and just another big step for our city in being a place that hopefully will retain its small town feel, but to increasingly have global opportunity," Cedar Park Mayor Jim Penniman-Morin said, expressing jubilation over the agreement.
Hanyang is known globally as an engineering company, working on projects ranging from aerospace technology to semiconductor manufacturing. Coincidentally, the company is a frequent supplier of Samsung, which is building a semiconductor facility of its own in Taylor.
The new headquarters will be located at the Scottsdale Crossing Tech Center on Volta Drive. The company expects employees to be working in Cedar Park by 2025.
