Christian Dior Couture planning 6,300-square-foot store at The Domain, document shows

If the plan comes to fruition, the designer brand will become just the latest in luxury retailers setting up shop in the Capital City.

AUSTIN, Texas — It appears that Christian Dior Couture is planning to open a store at The Domain.

According to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), the designer brand plans to open a 6,300-square-foot store at 11600 Century Oaks Terrace, Ste. A01A.

The filing, which was registered in late October 2022, states that construction is estimated to cost $6.8 million and be completed by the end of this year.

It's important to note that TDLR filings are not always accurate and any plans included in them are subject to change.

The Austin Business Journal (ABJ) reports that success for luxury brand retail is likely driven by high-income shoppers, and luxury malls like The Domain continuously outperform over indoor malls.

The Domain is already home to several luxury retail stores, including Gucci and Louis Vuitton. And designer brands aren't just sticking to The Domain either – South Congress Avenue boasts stores from Alo, Hermès and Moscot.

The ABJ reports that "as more people with higher median household incomes flocked to areas like Dallas, Houston and Austin, the scales tipped and allowed newcomers relatively higher spending power." While Austin currently has a median household income of $81,000 a year, the ABJ reports that the city has seen many newcomers from San Francisco, who boasted a median income of $110,000.

Aside from the planned Domain store, Dior currently has stores in Houston and Dallas.
