Report: Easy Tiger closing its East Austin location

The mini-chain's co-founder and head baker said the location is closing due to a "combination of challenging weather conditions and increased costs."

AUSTIN, Texas — Local beer garden and bakery Easy Tiger is closing its East Austin location, according to a report from Eater Austin.

The mini-chain's marketing manager confirmed the plan to close the East Seventh Street location and shared with Eater Austin a statement from co-founder and head baker David Norman. Norman said that "due to a combination of challenging weather conditions and increased costs, we cannot see a path forward for Easy Tiger at this location."

Norman also said Easy Tiger is looking to relocate East Seventh Street staff into positions at the company's two other locations, on South Lamar Boulevard and in the Linc off North Interstate 35.

Norman said Easy Tiger's general bread and pastry production won't be interrupted by the eventual closure of the East Austin beer garden because that location didn't have an in-house bakery.

Eater Austin reports that the last day of service for the Easy Tiger on East Seventh Street will be sometime at the end of April.

According to Eater Austin, Easy Tiger opened the East Seventh Street location in early 2021. Prior to Easy Tiger's time there, the location was an event space run by Austin restaurant Parkside Projects. Before that, it was a French restaurant called LaV.
