AUSTIN, Texas — Austin-based tech entrepreneur Elon Musk will soon expand his reach in Bastrop even further.
According to a report from Community Impact, company officials noted that Musk will soon open a new X support center at Bastrop's Boring Bodega.
The announcement was made on X on July 29, with the post stating that X is looking to hire representatives in Bastrop on a $50,000 to $55,000 annual salary.
This move follows a post made by Musk on July 16, stating he planned to move the headquarters for X from California to Texas as a result of California's Assembly Bill No. 1955 being signed into law.
The bill mandates school officials to develop resources "for the support of parents, guardians, and families of LGBTQ pupils and strategies to increase support for LGBTQ pupils," and prevents officials "from enacting or enforcing any policy, rule or administrative regulation that requires an employee or a contractor to disclose any information related to a pupil’s sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression to any other person without the pupil’s consent," according to the bill's summary.
“This is the final straw,” Musk said in his post. “Because of this law and the many others that preceded it, attacking both families and companies, SpaceX will now move.”
There is currently no timetable for when the new support center will open.
