Firefly Aerospace expanding in Cedar Park, creating more than 680 jobs

Firefly will be purchasing 40,000 square feet in the Scottsdale Crossing Technology Center.

CEDAR PARK, Texas — Firefly Aerospace (Firefly) is solidifying its presence in Cedar Park. The Cedar Park City Council approved an expansion agreement on Thursday.

Firefly will be purchasing 40,000 square feet in the Scottsdale Crossing Technology Center. The expansion will create 682 new jobs with an average salary of $90,000.

Since partnering with Cedar Park six years ago, Firefly has expanded its venture to include rocket systems and lunar landers. In February, the company was awarded a $93.3 million contract by NASA to deliver a suite of 10 science investigators and technology demonstrations to the moon in 2023.

According to a press release from the City of Cedar Park, Firefly's launch vehicles "utilize common technologies, manufacturing infrastructure and launch capabilities, providing low earth orbit (LEO) launch solutions for up to ten metric tons of payload." Combined with Firefly's in-space vehicles, the company "provides the space industry with a single source for missions from LEO to the surface of the moon or beyond," the release stated.
