Williamson County approves agreement to bring new manufacturing facility north of Georgetown

The 200,000-square-foot automotive parts supply facility would bring 180 permanent new jobs to the county.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas — Williamson County has approved a tax incentives agreement to bring a new 200,000-square-foot automotive parts supply facility north of Georgetown.

The commissioners court approved a Chapter 312 agreement with Hanwha Advanced Materials America – a division of South Korean company Hanwha – for the company to purchase 38 acres off the Interstate 35 frontage road.

According to the agreement, Hanwha would build high-tech manufacturing space for a total investment of $100 million, which would include buildings, machinery and equipment, Williamson County said. The facility would bring 180 permanent new jobs to the county.

The company would be given 70% of the taxable value of the tangible personal property for 10 years, according to the agreement.

The project was first proposed to county officials in November 2022, and company representatives visited Williamson County in March 2023. Then in April 2023, County Judge Bill Gravell, Commissioner Russ Boles and Dave Porter met with company executives in Seoul, South Korea.

“The addition of Hanwha Advanced Materials is a win for Williamson County as it helps to diversify the WilCo economy,” Porter said. “We are winning semi-conductor projects, but this is a different industry.”

“Williamson County continues to be a preferred location for international businesses to call home,” Gravell said. “We will continue to see more companies on an international scale due to our prime location, highly skilled workforce and excellent quality of life.”
