Liberty Hill balancing small-town feel with booming growth

From 2010 to 2020, Liberty Hill's population nearly tripled.

LIBERTY HILL, Texas — Liberty Hill, Texas, is not the rural area that it once was. You can't get far into the small town without seeing somebody building something.

From 2010 to 2020, Liberty Hill's population nearly tripled. And demand has only gotten stronger over the past two years.

The town is changing. Huge master-planned communities are popping up, like Butler Farms, with its stocked ponds, resort amenities, greenbelts and parks and trials. A handful of fast food chains have popped up – including a Starbucks, which some locals claim they aren't too happy about.

What everyone can agree on is their love for the Panthers. The gorgeous football stadium can hold more than 5,000 people – more than the population of the entire town.

In Downtown Liberty Hill, you can pose for a selfie in front of a cute mural or check out the historic buildings. The locals recommend checking out the Texas Honey Hole, an old-fashioned candy store offering everything from candy of the past to Dippin' Dots, "the ice cream of the future."
