AUSTIN, Texas — A new 17-story luxury hotel is coming to Downtown Austin.
According to KVUE's partners at the Austin American-Statesman, the project has broken ground and is expected to open in 2023. The 344-room citizenM hotel will be located at Colorado and Seventh streets, where a parking lot currently sits.
"As an exciting cultural center and an influential tech and business hub, Austin has been on our radar for years," Ernest Lee, citizenM’s managing director for the Americas, told the Statesman. "Now, with the city’s emergence as one of North America’s most significant destinations for knowledge workers, it is cementing its place on the national stage."
The hotel will feature king-sized beds, HD TVs with streaming options through free Wi-Fi and more.
CitizenM, a Dutch hospitality brand, has hotels in Boston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, San Franciso, Seattle and Washington, D.C., as well as numerous international locations. The firm has plans to open 40 hotels by 2024, according to the Statesman report.
The report states that other Downtown Austin hotel projects underway include two Hyatt-brand hotels at Fifth and Brazos streets, a 229-room Thompson Austin hotel and a 193-unit tommie hotel. The Thompson is a luxury boutique concept and the tommie is a “micro-lifestyle hotel.”
