HUTTO, Texas — A company that sells water treatment equipment could be making its way to Hutto, according to a report by the Austin Business Journal (ABJ).
ABJ reports that on Monday, Ovivo Inc. received unanimous approval from the Hutto Economic Development Corporation (EDC) for an economic development performance agreement to receive incentives to open a manufacturing facility at an undisclosed site. The city council will decide whether to give final approval on Thursday.
Ovivo sells equipment such as filters and mixers used in municipal water facilities and industrial plants around the world, according to ABJ.
The report states that during the EDC meeting, corporation members indicated that Ovivo has acquired property and plans to invest a minimum of $25 million in vertical construction and equipment.
The company is reportedly targeting a minimum of 96 employees, with a goal of 120 employees, by 2027. Jobs would start at $15 an hour and reach as high as $150,000 annually for roughly 20 supervisor jobs.
The development deal is contingent upon Ovivo having infrastructure and equipment in place by Dec. 31, 2024, and starting construction by Dec. 31, 2022, according to ABJ. Additional details of the incentives agreement were not immediately available.
Ovivo has had workers in the Austin area for more than 20 years, ABJ reports. The company recently moved its office from North Austin to a site off Old Settlers Boulevard in Round Rock. According to ABJ, between 50 and 60 employees of Ovivo's municipal team work out of the Round Rock office and executives wanted to find a manufacturing site nearby.
