Amazon may bring facility to Pflugerville, report says

PFLUGERVILLE, Texas — Amazon may be making big moves to expand in Pflugerville.

Tuesday night, the Pflugerville City Council approved rezoning 94 acres of land for a development called "Project Charm." The new building would be near the intersection of Pecan Street and State Highway 130, where there is currently just an open field.

According to the Austin Business Journal, that space will become home to a 3.8 million-square-foot Amazon distribution facility.

Amazon already has an 855,000-square-foot facility in San Marcos that opened in 2016. About 1,000 people work there. And the company has been expanding a lot in Central Texas lately. Amazon brought another 1,400 jobs to the Austin area last year.

When polled Wednesday night, KVUE viewers voted 74% to 26%, saying they believe Pflugerville seems like a good potential fit for an Amazon expansion.
