KYLE, Texas — As more homebuyers are considering moving south of Austin to communities like Kyle and New Braunfels, a surge of large businesses continues to invest in those places as well.
Plastikon is a plastic manufacturer that works with medical and automotive companies, including Tesla. The company will be leasing nearly 100,000 square feet in the Plum Creek Industrial Center in Kyle.
Recently, auto-body manufacturer Simwon North America Corp. also signed a lease at Plum Creek for nearly 500,000 square feet.
Mark Petri, the executive vice president of sales and business development for Plastikon, said the company hopes to make an impact on the local economy.
"We look at this as an opportunity for not only tax benefits that the City of Kyle will get, but really for all the local businesses that will get all of the local indiviudals using their amenities, whether it's the restaurants, gas stations, hotels," Petri said. "So, it really has an impact on the community from all areas as well."
Plastikon is currently looking to hire 75 to 100 people and then another 100 positions within the year. Petri said the company plans to have the factory open and operational by October or November.
