AUSTIN, Texas — Rental prices in Austin are rising like crazy, but a new report suggests there may be a cheaper option available.
Travel comparison site Deal Checker studied rental prices across the country to find out where it’s cheaper to rent an Airbnb room instead of an apartment, and, you guessed it, Austin falls into that list.
The average price of an Airbnb rental per night for a private room is almost $32 compared to the average rental price per night in Austin, which is almost $57. That's a 44% price difference.
According to the Statesman, Deal Checker compared Airbnb rates with rental prices from RentCafe. RentCafe’s rates were divided by 30 and increased by 20% to account for utilities.
Other Texas cities with cheaper Airbnb rates included Dallas, with a $19.25 per night difference, Houston, with a $20.40 difference, and San Antonio, with a $32.55 difference.
