Report: Second Amazon facility planned for Round Rock

The City's Planning and Zoning commission recently gave Amazon the green light to establish zoning for the new facility.

ROUND ROCK, Texas — A second Amazon last-mile delivery station is planned for Round Rock, according to a report from the Austin Business Journal (ABJ).

The City of Round Rock's Planning and Zoning commission recently gave Amazon the green light to establish zoning for the new facility.

There is already an Amazon facility on Chisholm Trail near Interstate 35 where packages ready for shipment are sorted and loaded onto delivery trucks. The new facility would be located on a 149-acre property that Amazon already owns along County Road 172 and McNeil Road, just north of State Highway 45.

The proposed facility would include a warehouse, distribution center, data center and electrical substation.

Amazon representatives say the facility would create up to 200 jobs, not including delivery drivers. The company hopes to begin construction by the end of next year, and construction should take about a year to complete.
