San Marcos breaks ground on new fire station ahead of growth

Fire Station #2 in San Marcos is expected to be completed in 2021.

SAN MARCOS, Texas — San Marcos is growing, which means new resources. On Friday, officials held a groundbreaking ceremony for their new fire station. 

Station #2 will be located in the new La Cima subdivision off of Center Point Road. 

The developer of the subdivision, Eric Willis, donated the land to the City in anticipation of its growth.

"We expect to have at least 100 to 150 families a year move into La Cima," explained Willis. "Currently, we have over 50 families living in La Cima and we expect that to go to 150 to 200 by the end of this year."

The fire station is expected to open in early 2021.
