HUTTO, Texas — Alright, alright, alright! Top Notch Hamburgers' second location will officially open for business in Hutto later this week.
The restaurant is set to open at The Hutto Co-Op District on Wednesday, March 22. Top Notch Hutto, located at 121 Co-Op Blvd., will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. to satisfy locals' cravings for charcoal-grilled burgers, hand-dipped onion rings and more.
The City of Hutto said lines are expected initially at the new location, both due to excitement and the newness of the crew. Owner Kelly Chappell told the City that training has gone well with the location's nearly 40 crew members, but with the staff being so new, he's asking the community for "extra grace and patience" during the restaurant's first month.
Chappell also noted that he intentionally hired almost everyone from Hutto as part of Top Notch's investment in the community.
Top Notch Hutto will host a grand opening party a week or two after it opens on Wednesday. Chappell also told the City he aims to hold an "old-school hot rod event" on Sunday, April 23.
Top Notch's original location opened on Burnet Road in Austin in 1971 and was famously featured in the 1993 film "Dazed and Confused," featuring future superstars Matthew McConaughey and Ben Affleck as part of an ensemble cast.
The restaurant is known for its carhop service, monthly hot rod drive-in nights and annual "Dazed and Confused" screenings.
