AUSTIN, Texas — Toy Joy is celebrating 36 years in a new location off of Burnet Road.
The new building used to be the home to Karavel Shoes and is 50% bigger than Toy Joy's Airport Boulevard store.
Toy Joy won't be alone at the new location. Yummi Joy, its sister business, will also be at the new location at 5501 Burnet Road in the Brentwood/Allendale neighborhood.
“We’re really stoked to be able to take our Toy Joy and Yummi Joy concepts up another level in this larger space,” said Robby Pettinato, partner, COO and principal toy curator for Toy Joy. “This new location will feature an ‘events loft’ where we can better host regular gatherings of game and hobby enthusiasts like Dungeons & Dragons game nights, Gundam model-building groups, toy swaps, birthday parties, and more.”
The new store is easy to spot because it is painted bright pink and slime green with Toy Joy's mascot cat, Otto, on it.
“We are very thankful that, as a company and with our unique brands, we weathered the past few tough years for indie retail,” CEO Teghan Hahn said. “We are excited to join other iconic Austin businesses in the district and deliver our fun toys and treats to what is now our third generation of customers in a great new space. We are looking forward to future growth!”
Toy Joy is expected to be in its new location beginning Saturday, July 1. For more information about Toy Joy and Yummi Joy, visit their websites.
