AUSTIN, Texas — Just over a year after opening, Trudy's Del Mar on South Congress Avenue is reportedly set to close.
According to a report from the Austin Business Journal, the Trudy's group will continue operating in the space at 1600 S. Congress Ave. but will usher in a new concept this spring.
The Tex-Mex chain known for its potent Mexican Martinis still operates three other Trudy's locations around Austin – Trudy's North Star on Burnet Road, Trudy's Texas Star on West 30th Street, and Trudy's South Star on Little Texas Lane.
It's also reportedly opening up a location in College State this spring.
Back in 2020, the three locations went up for auction after some struggles prior to the pandemic. Trudy's filed for bankruptcy in January of that year amid reports that the group was behind on paying employees.
The location of Trudy's Del Mar was previously home to the South Congress Café.
