PFLUGERVILLE, Texas — Pflugerville is getting a new wastewater treatment plant after the city council approved the construction project.
The $1.5 million project includes a new 6 million gallon-a-day Wilbarger Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant, which is Phase 1 of the multi-million dollar project. Pepper-Lawson Waterworks signed a contract with the City for this phase.
The city council also approved more than $17.9 million in professional services which include design engineer's construction administration, construction management and construction materials testing.
Overall, this wastewater treatment facility – which will cost $200 million – will provide service needs as Pflugerville continues to grow. It is all part of the City's strategic plan, which will help meet current and future needs.
There will be more construction phases that will be presented to the city council over the next several months.
According to the City's website, the city council is tackling four key themes with its strategic plan. Below are the main goals:
- Become the safest city
- Create a fiscally-sustainable city with high quality of life
- Maintain and prepare a robust, resilient infrastructure that exceeds expectations
- Engage the community with parks and recreation and library programs and services
The plant is expected to break ground this summer.
