GEORGETOWN, Texas — Williamson County broke ground for construction improvements on Westinghouse Road on Monday afternoon.
The project will improve approximately 5.5 miles of existing roadways on Westinghouse Road/County Road 111 from FM 1460 to State Highway 130 and CR 111 from north of CR 107 to CR 111. The roadways will be transformed into wider roads with two travel lanes, shoulder and turn lanes at intersections.
According to Williamson County, this project is part of an ultimate six-lane divided urban roadway for the east-west transportation corridor of Westinghouse Road/CR 111, CR 110 and CR 105, collectively referred to as CR 111.
Construction of the project is funded through the voter-approved 2019 Road Bond and the City of Georgetown for $21,024,332.88. The City of Georgetown is contributing 34% of the total construction costs
The project is expected to be completed in early 2024.
A groundbreaking ceremony for the project was held at 12:30 p.m. Monday at the northwest corner of CR 110 and CR 105. Georgetown Mayor Josh Schroeder and Williamson County commissioners Valerie Covey (Precinct 3) and Russ Boles (Precinct 4) were expected to be in attendance.
