GEORGETOWN, Texas — Moments matter. That’s why Georgetown is adding two new fire stations to help cover the growing city.
"If they need an ambulance, they want it here quickly because they don't want their loved ones to die,” Mayor Dale Ross said.
With more new homes popping up every day in and around Georgetown, it's putting more of a demand on their safety services.
From a 56 percent increase in calls from 2013 to 2017 to forcing emergency crews to travel farther out, they’re seeing an impact.
“Seconds can mean the difference between living and dying and so, if you have these stations strategically placed throughout the city, response times are key,” Mayor Ross said.

That's why Georgetown is breaking ground on two new fire stations within a week of each other — one on the east side of town, the other on the west.
"The response times would vary, but it would cut down the response times significantly,” Assistant Fire Chief Clay Shell said.
Station #7 will be only the second station on the east side of I-35, an area that is quickly growing.
"It's critical for response times in this area on the east side of Georgetown,” Shell said.
They hope to open both stations next spring.
