AUSTIN, Texas — The pandemic swept away millions of jobs, and to aid the community in rebuilding, KVUE highlights different companies hiring. This week we spoke with Kalahari Resorts Texas and Hyliion.
"Kalahari Resorts is an authentically African, all-under-one-roof vacation experience, including America's largest indoor waterpark, Tom Foolery Adventure Park, beautiful convention space, 975 rooms and five signature restaurants," said Kalahari Resort spokesperson Karolyn Doro.
Kalahari Resort is located in Round Rock. The grand opening is Nov. 12. The resort is hiring 700 employees with various skill sets to either work in the kitchen, operate the rides and much more.
Doro said even if you are looking for a permanent career, this could be the place for you.
"Very much part of our culture is growing from within," said Doro. "Just about 60% or so of our associates that are in leadership and management right now started in low-level positions."
Another company looking to hire in Central Texas is Hyliion.
You may have seen its trucks rolling around Austin. The company's headquarters is in Cedar Park. The tech company is doing something great for the environment and electrifying vehicles and trucks.
It is looking for more than 25 employees with mid-level experience to help expand the company – for example, engineers, managers and marketers.
Hyliion CEO Thomas Healy said the company's future is bright.
"It's an exciting company," said Healy. "We just listed on the New York Stock Exchange, so now we're publicly traded through that transaction. We brought in over half-a-billion dollars to help us continue to grow and scale the company, but at the end of the day, this is still a startup. It's a startup culture, atmosphere, environment, and we're going out and we're trying to really change the trucking industry."
