AUSTIN, Texas — It may have been a chilly day in Austin but the Longhorns were all for some spring cleaning this afternoon at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. The brooms were out for Texas as they looked to sweep the No. 2 team in the country, in LSU.
The back-and-forth affair started with a 1-1 tie in the third. That's until Round Rock product Austin Todd walked up to the plate. He was 10 for 19 with runners in scoring position coming to The Dish. He added to it with a two-out, two-run home run to give Texas the lead, 3-1.
The Tigers would tie it up in the fifth inning and proceed to score in three straight innings while keeping the Texas bats at bay.
Then the bottom of the ninth came around.
Texas mounted a comeback, scoring three runs to tie the game 6-6. With a chance to win it, Todd came through again. Todd was responsible for a base-hit RBI to win the game in walk-off fashion.
The Longhorns complete the sweep with a series finale 7-6 win against LSU.
