$2.3M meth bust in Fayette County helped by K-9 unit Kolt

K-9 unit Kolt helped in the arrest of a man who was transporting 23 kilos of meth on Interstate 10 in Fayette County.

FAYETTE COUNTY, Texas — Sheriff Keith Korenek said in a press release on Monday that on Thursday, March 28, 2019, Fayette County's K-9 unit Kolt helped in the seizure of 23 kilos of meth on Interstate 10.

Deputies said a truck was stopped on I-10 at mile marker 660 around 9:21 p.m. for a traffic violation.

After speaking to the driver, deputies said they suspected the individual that was driving of trafficking narcotics.

The driver gave consent for deputies to search the vehicle and K-9 unit Kolt indicated there were illegal narcotics in the truck.

After completing the search of the truck, 23 kilos of meth was discovered, with an estimated street value of $2.3 million.

The meth was found in compartments that were built into the seats.

The driver, Eugenio Arnoldo Faz Velazco, 45, was arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance.
