According to APD, a 21-year-old woman died Wednesday after she took 'Molly" at the festival.

On Sunday, Oct. 5, an APD detective was working an off-duty traffic control assignment at a crosswalk in the 2100 block of Veteran's Drive around 10 p.m when a person flagged the officer down to alert them of a female in distress, police said.

The detective made her way to the woman, who was conscious, sweating profusely and had a gray complexion. Police said the woman's body was rigid and her hands and feet were flailing. The woman's friends told the detective that she had taken the drug 'Molly,' also known as Ecstasy.

The detective called Austin-Travis County EMS. CPR was performed, and she was taken to Seton Medical Center. According to police, on Wednesday, Oct. 8, the woman died. Her toxicology results, and the cause of her death, is pending.

The woman was provided 'Molly' by an acquaintance while at ACL, police said. The woman was with a group of friends, who took the exact same drug. All had adverse reactions to the drug, but not as severe as the woman's, police said.

According to police, this is an isolated incident, and would like to reiterate the dangers of illegal drug use.

An investigation into this incident is ongoing.
