AUSTIN, Texas — While the United States' population growth reportedly hit an 80-year low in 2018, the Austin area ranked as the fourth fastest growing city in America, according to 24/7 Wall St.
The publication's study reviewed population change from July 1, 2010 to July 1, 2018 in all metro areas across the United States to find the fastest growing metro areas. Several metro areas in Texas -- including Austin-Round Rock -- made the list of 25 of the fastest-growing areas in the United States.

Listed as the fourth fastest-growing metro area in the United States, 24/7 Wall St. reported that the Austin-Round Rock area has seen a population growth of more than 25% from 2010 to 2018. The unemployment rate in the area is 3%, and the median household income is nearly $70,000, the article said.
Austin is home to 440,800 more people today than in 2010, the report said.
"Austin's thriving job market has likely been a draw for many new residents. Major employers in the metro area include tech giants like IBM, Amazon, and Apple," the article read. "In the last eight years, total employment in the metro area climbed by nearly 30%, more than double the national employment growth over that time."
This probably doesn't come as a surprise to you, as the Austin-area often lands on lists of the fastest growing places in the United States.
