Austin Bold FC claims 1st win of the season in 1st ever home match

The Bold knocked off San Antonio FC, 1-0.

AUSTIN, Texas — In their first season, the Austin Bold FC claimed their first win of the season in the franchise's first match on their home pitch.

The Bold defeated their natural geographic rivals, San Antonio FC, 1-0.

A goal by Kleber Giacomazzi in the 76th minute is all Austin needed to claim their first win of the season. The Bold improved their record to 1-0-1.

Saturday night was bigger than the match. It followed the anticipation leading up to a historic match, the first professional soccer match in a stadium built strictly for soccer in Austin.

A sold-out 5,000 seat Bold Stadium at the Circuit of the Americas, plus standing room-only tickets, made for an impressive atmosphere.

A cool and blustery evening was not a factor. The drums beating, a fan base learned cheers for this new franchise. It was a spirited first-ever home match in franchise history.

The Austin Bold FC heads to Sacramento, California on April 6 for their next match before hosting three consecutive home matches.
