AUSTIN, Texas — Austin's City Council has adopted the Austin Strategic Mobility Plan, which is set to guide the city's transportation policies, programs, projects and investments.
“The Austin Strategic Mobility Plan is truly a major milestone for Austin’s mobility portfolio,” said Robert Spillar, P.E., Austin transportation director. “The plan responds to Council’s strategic direction to solve mobility issues by addressing the multimodal needs of our community, offering our residents and visitors new, affordable opportunities to travel through and around our city.”
The new plan covers policies including transportation safety, demand, infrastructure, operating of the transportation network, health and environment, supporting the community and implementing the plan.

The plan first began in 2016, including feedback from around 10,000 community members heard through boards and commissions, public hearings and City Council events.
“This plan is a culmination of public engagement efforts and is informed by what we heard from the community,” said Annick Beaudet, Austin transportation assistant director. “We are excited to carry out the plan and envision it to be responsive to our community’s changing mobility needs over time.”
