AUSTIN, Texas — After it was announced that Hut’s Hamburgers will close in October, the Austin community had a lot of feelings.
A lot of the feedback was focused on how sad it is that another Austin staple is leaving for good.
Going down memory lane, here are some other Austin burger joints that have closed in recent years.
Nau’s Enfield Drug
Nau’s, open since 1951, had to temporarily close the fountain and grill after being short-staffed. There is still no word if or when the soda fountain will reopen, but don’t worry: the drug store is still open for business
Players
Late-night UT hangout Players closed its doors in 2014 after serving up burgers for 33 years.
Fran’s
This South Congress burger joint – recognizable because of its unique waitress statue on the roof – closed in 2013 after being open for 40 years.
